It does not appear as if Artists Helping Children directly receive or give the items.  You donate them on your own.  They do have lists for suggested hospitals and shelters.

Cubs for Kids

Cubs for Kids  http://www.cubsforkids.com/default.htm  say, “Put a smile on the face of a homeless child.”

Cubs for Kids provide the teddy bear.  You can knit a sweater, hat, and scarf for the bear so that a 3 to 6 year old child in a homeless shelter will feel love.

Knitting Patterns (for machine and by hand) and where to send finished items (they accept them year round; distribute them to shelters in early December) are on Cubs for Kids site

Care Wear

 Care Wear, http://www.carewear.org/index.cfm , based in MD, “ is a nationwide group of volunteers who knit, crochet, and/or sew, providing handmade baby items to hospitals. All Care Wear items are given free to infants, children and their parents.” (quote from their website)
